How this calculator works

Enter your monthly expenses, the emergency fund you hold, your yearly income and your current term and health cover. Three gauges compare them with common rules of thumb: six months of expenses in reserve, term cover of about ten times income, and health cover of ₹10 lakh or more. Sanriya does not sell insurance; this is a check, not a quote.

What does the insurance and emergency fund calculator check?

It compares your emergency fund, term life cover and health cover with three rules of thumb: six months of expenses in reserve, term cover of about ten times yearly income, and health cover of ₹10 lakh or more per family. Enter your figures; three gauges show where each stands. It is a check against common rules of thumb, not a quote.

Questions people ask

  • Three to six months of essential expenses: three for a two-income household with stable jobs, six or more for a single income, a variable income or dependants. Count rent or EMI, food, utilities, school fees, premiums and medicines, not discretionary spending.

  • Somewhere reachable in a day without a penalty or market risk: a liquid or overnight mutual fund, a sweep-in fixed deposit or a savings account. Not in an equity fund, which can be down when the emergency arrives.

  • Enough that the family can clear every loan, fund the goals already planned and replace your income for the years it was counted on. Ten to fifteen times yearly income is the quick rule. Buy a plain term plan; investment-linked policies cost far more for the same cover.

  • Rarely on its own. It ends when the job does, often covers ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh, and may exclude parents. A personal family floater with a top-up, bought while everyone is healthy, keeps cover continuous.
