Plan this with us →How this calculator works
Enter the rupee amount you want to send abroad and the exchange rate. The calculator converts it to dollars and shows how much of the yearly USD 250,000 LRS limit it uses, and what remains. Investments through GIFT City count against the same limit.
What is the LRS limit and how does the calculator use it?
The Liberalised Remittance Scheme lets a resident Indian send up to USD 250,000 abroad in a financial year for permitted purposes, including overseas shares, funds and GIFT City funds. The calculator converts a rupee amount to dollars at the rate you set and shows how much of the yearly limit it uses.
How is it calculated?
USD = Rupees ÷ Exchange rate; Room left = 250,000 − USD
- The limit is per person per financial year (April to March), across all LRS purposes
- Each family member has their own limit, including minors through a guardian
